My parents preached that family was so important but they betrayed their own flesh and blood. Their actions defined 'family' as the system that allowed them to rule. My parents expressed through their behavior that their superiority in authority made them superior in value. Family members weren’t important; only they were. When my parents claimed that family was important, they meant that it was important to stay together so that they could continue to rule. ”
